The UAF Community and Technical College (CTC) Dean Search
The UAF College of Rural, Community and Native Education has begun the search for a dynamic and innovative leader to serve as UAF CTC dean. This position is designated as an officer of the university or senior administrator at the discretion of the president.
The UAF CTC dean is the chief academic officer for CTC, who will provide strategic and operational leadership to approximately 35 full-time faculty, 200 adjunct faculty, 35 full-time staff, 100 part-time staff; support a diverse population of approximately 3,000 students; manage an annual budget of approximately $14 million as well as manage five instructional facilities.

Carl Bishop
With nearly 30 years of experience bridging universities and community colleges, Carl Bishop sees education as the best way to empower individuals, fuel the workforce, and transform communities. As vice president at South Piedmont Community College in North Carolina, Bishop led academics, workforce education and training, student affairs, and student support services. During his tenure as vice president, enrollment surged, student outcomes across demographics improved, and achievement gaps among student populations narrowed. Bishop’s approach to community and technical education is collaborative, uniting education, industry, government, and community partners to align workforce education with labor market needs and provide learners with pathways to high-wage, high-demand jobs.

He completed his undergraduate studies at Rutgers University, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Journalism & Mass Media with a minor in Political Science.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Kevin is deeply committed to giving back to his community through volunteer service. He actively supports local charities and nonprofit organizations, leveraging his skills and expertise to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
