Northern Military Services
Northern Military Services at the UAF Community and Technical College is Interior Alaska’s point of contact for University of Alaska services for Fort Wainwright (FTWW), Eielson Air Force Base (EAFB), Fort Greely/Delta Junction, and Clear Air Station. Northern Military Services provides classes and services to meet the educational needs of military personnel and their families. Civilians are also welcome to attend classes at any of our locations. Staff members are available to explain programs and courses and assist in registration and admissions.

On-Site Courses & Degree Programs
Northern Military Services is committed to meeting students’ educational needs and helping them find a pathway to complete a degree. On-site courses are offered on evenings to accommodate student work schedules. Within a regular semester, accelerated terms are also offered.
Civilians are also welcome to utilize the services at these education centers and to attend classes at any of our locations. Staff is available to explain programs and courses, as well as assist with administration processes and registration.
UAF Community & Technical College offers a variety of degrees also offered online that can be started in-person and then continued online; perfect for anticipated transfers or other moves.
Advising Services
Advisors are available at FTWW and EAFB to assist students in developing a clearly defined degree program. The University of Alaska Fairbanks recognizes and awards credit for military training and experience as notated on the military student’s Joint Services Transcript.
UAF is a member of the Servicemembers Opportunity College (SOC) Consortium and is a partner in SOC’s Career and Technical Education program with the Community & Technical College’s applied business management certificate and the information technology specialist certificate programs.
Testing Services
Northern Military Services site offices at Eielson AFB and Ft. Wainwright are National Test Center sites for CLEP and DSST testing. Eielson AFB site also offers a selection of Pearson Vue tests. (Testing services). We also offer placement testing at all our locations. In addition, proctoring services are available upon request.
Registration
Students may register for classes online or in person at Fort Wainwright, Eielson Air Force Base or our Delta Junction office. Community members are welcome to register for classes offered and teach at these locations as well.
Financial Aid
Northern Military Services provides students with basic information pertaining to financial aid, military tuition assistance, Veteran’s education benefits, Pell grants, guaranteed student loans, and other military subsidies available. The offices will guide students to the resources to assist with individual needs.
Military members should visit their education center for information about tuition assistance.
Tuition & Fees
Military members, their spouse and their dependent children, and veterans eligible for VA educational benefits, their spouse and dependent children, pay resident tuition rates. Military tuition assistance covers tuition only; military students are responsible for fees associated with their courses.
