Applied Business (A.A.S.)
The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in applied business is a two-year program designed to provide you with a well-rounded business education covering a wide range of related subjects. Students who have completed the business management certificate will be able to apply their credits towards the A.A.S. degree in applied business.
You will complete courses that will advance your business knowledge of supervision, human resources, management issues, business law, and marketing/public relations. Additionally, the program provides you the opportunity to focus your studies in any one of the following 13 concentration areas:

- Computer Applications
- Entrepreneurship
- Finance
- Health Care Management
- Human Resources
- Management

- Recreation and Guiding Management
- Tourism
Applied Business Management (Cert.)
The applied business management certificate is a one-year program designed to prepare you for entry level positions in business, non-profit and government institutions. Students who have completed either the administrative assistant or financial services representative occupational endorsements will be able to apply their credits towards the certificate in applied business management.
Courses will enable you to develop a foundation of knowledge in accounting principles, finance, customer service, communications, applied mathematics and human relations. You will also have the opportunity to complete a concentration of coursework from any one of the following areas:
- Computer Applications
- Finance
- General Business
- Marketing
- Office Administration
- Public Managements
- Recreation Guiding
- Retail Management
- Tourism
The program has also been designed as a stepping stone to the A.A.S. degree in applied business for students interested in continuing to advance their knowledge through additional education.
Administrative Assistant (O.E.)
The administrative assistant occupational endorsement is a focused program that can be completed in as little as one semester and has been designed to prepare you for a rewarding career as an office professional.
Coursework will develop your knowledge of office procedures, computer skills, document formatting, touch typing and human relations.
The program has also been designed as a stepping stone to the applied business management certificate for students interested in continuing to advance their knowledge through additional education.
Financial Services Representative (O.E.)
The financial services representative occupational endorsement is a focused program that can be completed in as little as one semester and has been designed to prepare you for customer service and teller positions in banks, credit unions and other financial institutions.
Coursework will develop your knowledge of customer service, financial management, banking and investing, business math, and human relations.
The program has also been designed as a stepping stone to the applied business management certificate for students interested in continuing to advance their knowledge through additional education.
General Business (Minor)
The minor in applied business—general business is designed to provide you the opportunity to acquire foundation-level knowledge and skills in general business. Students will complete coursework in accounting principles, finance, customer service and marketing/public relations.
This minor is a great choice for Bachelor of Arts degree-seeking students who need to satisfy their minor requirement or Associate of Arts students who want to explore business as an area of interest.
Recreation and Guiding Management (Minor)
The minor in applied business – recreation and guiding management is designed to provide you the opportunity to acquire foundation-level knowledge in tourism, customer service, wilderness leadership education and emergency response.
This minor is a great choice for Bachelor of Arts degree-seeking students who need to satisfy their minor requirement or Associate of Arts students who want to explore recreation and guiding management as an area of interest.
Supervision and Personnel Management (O.E.)
The occupational endorsement for supervision and personnel management provides education and training to students to qualify for managerial and supervisory leadership positions in both small and large businesses, government, nonprofit and education settings. This 15-credit occupational endorsement may be earned in one or two semesters and represents a large portion of the education required for the applied business management certificate. Students must complete all courses with a grade of C or better in order to earn the endorsement.
