The minor in American Sign Language (ASL) is designed to provide you the opportunity to acquire signing skills, experience American deaf culture and history, and develop a greater understanding of diversity and empathy for people with differing abilities. The minor includes beginning to advanced coursework in American Sign Language.
ASL is a visual language that uses physical stamina and coordination and there is no use of voice during the sign language classes. Students must be able to sustain physically demanding activity in order to participate and learn.
This minor is a great choice for Bachelor of Arts degree-seeking students who need to satisfy their minor requirement or associate of arts students who want to explore American Sign Language as an area of interest.
