Beginning in the fall 2018 semester, the University of Alaska Fairbanks will reduce tuition by 25 percent on more than 100 courses in 23 occupational endorsement programs and three certificate programs at all UAF campuses. The reduced tuition is part of the university’s plan to meet Alaska’s workforce needs by growing enrollment and increasing degree completion. Occupational endorsements are short study tracks that help students develop industry-specific knowledge and skill sets for a specific occupation. Students can then decide whether to continue their education toward a certificate or degree.
CTC occupational endorsements eligible for the new tuition savings program:
Administrative assistant
Bookkeeping technician
Entry-level welding
Financial services representative
Medical billing
Medical coding
Medical office reception
Nurse aide
Supervision and personnel management
The tuition reduction will be applied on a course-by-course basis. For a lower-division course, if tuition is $212 per credit, the applied reduction will be $53 per credit. For a list of eligible programs, visit http://uaf.edu/admissions/apply/tuition-discount.php.
