Safety, Health & Environmental Awareness
UAF Community and Technical College/Programs/Safety, Health & Environmental Awareness

SafetyThe Safety, Health & Environmental Awareness certificate develops entry level skills in industrial safety, health, and environmental awareness. Courses combine the technical know how, use of state-of-the-art equipment, and hands-on experience necessary for students to obtain work in a variety of safety-related fields to include accident investigation, monitoring and enforcement of codes, ergonomics, and Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) requirements. Combining the requirements as set forth by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals with the skills learned in this program, students will be able to qualify to take an entry-level Associate Safety Professional Exam. Industry partners recognize this certification.

Individuals holding this certification are sought-after by industry partners to fill entry-level safety positions throughout the state. Positions include, but are not limited to, safety professionals in construction trades, risk management and insurance safety investigators, and entry level OSHA positions. As industries expand and automate, the need for qualified safety technicians increases. This need is currently being addressed by the American Society of Safety Engineers(ASSE). The UAF Community and Technical College and the Process Technology Program are active members of this national organization.
